ADA Access Compliance
We provide ADA/Access Compliance Assessments using both the federal and state regulations with an emphasis on the most stringent of the two. Some firms claim that they need only rely on the federal standards for ADA Transition plans or assessments, and that they will “alter to the CBC” requirements. That philosophy leaves clients with significant gaps in information. Readily achievable barrier removal can include both federal and state requirements. We believe that our clients deserve to have both sets of information and we provide them at no additional cost.
Our services should also be educational. When we succeed, we have been able to convey to our clients the importance of both regulations and statutes in applying the legal standard requiring that facilities are “usable by and accessible to” persons with disabilities. Mere compliance to the minimum standards in model codes may not result in facilities that are compliant. There is a bigger picture involved and we take the time to discuss the options available to our clients, again, at no additional cost.
Our services include the following:
• Building Evaluations
• ADA/Access Assessments
• ADA Transition Plans & Self-Evaluations, including updates to existing plans
• Accessibility Master Plans
• Peer Review
We have developed extensive expertise in civil engineering projects involving access in the public rights-of-way which is unique in the field of access consulting. Our experience allows our staff to expertly applicable code and statute to our projects, including the California edition of the Federal Highway Administration’s Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), the pending federal Public Rights-of-Way Accessibility Guidelines (PROWAG) and CalTrans Standards, in addition to the CBC and current ADAAG.
